Rev. Christopher Edwards is a senior pastor, a husband of one (Erica Edwards) and a father of two (twins - Abby and Gabby). On Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Summer Summit of the 2nd Episcopal District, the Rt. Rev. James Levert Davis appointed Rev. CS Edwards as the pastor of the historic Bethel AME Church in Selma, NC. Prior to this, Rev. Edwards served as Pastor of Galatia AME Church in Nashville, NC. While at Galatia Rev. Edwards took a church from the bottom up. Rev. Edwards did tremendous work at Galatia from the physical to the spiritual. Rev. Edwards was told that he wouldn't be able to do certain things there, but Rev. Edwards stood on his favorite scripture, "All things work together for the good." Rev. Edwards trusted God and the people followed, and Galatia is forever changed, and the impact made there in that community has been life changing. Rev. Edwards gave a new meaning to "small but mighty," almost tripling attendance.
Rev. Edwards is a native of Jackson, NC. There at his home church Allen Chapel AME, he was a Sunday school teacher, active YPD, and a faithful musician. In 2018, Rev. Edwards was ordained under the missionary rule serving his first church (Galatia AME) faithfully for 5 years. In 2020 Rev. Edwards received the Itinerate Deacon of the year award and several years later in 2023 he received the "Pastor of the Year" award in the 2nd Episcopal District. Rev Edwards is now the new and proud pastor of Bethel AME in Selma, NC where the theme is "Victory." Reverend Edwards currently serves as the Dean of the North Carolina Conference Board of Examiners.
Rev. Edwards is a graduate of NC Central University where he received a degree in Mathematics. He was also inducted in the NCCU Football Hall of fame with the 2006 Championship team. Rev. Edwards received his Masters of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary. His favorite quote is "God is up to something," and his favorite scripture that he models his life from is Romans 8:28, "All things work together for the good, to those who love God.
